I really love all the rainbow manicures that are out now, so I wanted to try it myself.
First I painted on French Quarter For Your Thoughts, then started dotting away! I kept my friend Roy G. Biv in mind while dotting, so here are the colors I used in order: China Glaze Hey Sailor, OPI Red Lights Ahead, Where? OPI on Collins Ave, China Glaze Papaya Punch, China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, Sally Hansen Lickety-Split Lime, China Glaze Gaga for Green, Barry M Cyan, Sally Hansen Fairy Teal, SpaRitual Undercurrent, and last but not least, SpaRitual Heliotrope!
Whooo! That was a handful! What do you think of the doticure??
I am an absolute nutter when it comes to David Bowie. Recently I found a mint condition vinyl copy of the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars and I have just been spinning it constantly. I wanted to pay homage to this awesome dude, so I decided to paint his iconic Aladdin Sane lightening bolt as my accent nail. My base color is OPI’s Your Royal Shine-ness (which is quite fitting, I think) with Ogre the Top Blue, Liquid Leather, and Papaya Punch as the lightening bolt.
I made my own color last night! I’ve been reading all of Dr. Frankenpolish’s blog (BOO, she isn’t updating anymore, how late am I to that party?), and I wanted to try my hand at it. I started with Sinful Colors’ Aquamarine, added some of China Glaze’s Papaya Punch, a bit of their For Audrey color and then a smidgen of Revlon’s Silver Dollar for the shimmers. It was a lot of fun to mix it up, and I was definitely missing a good green in my collection but when I went to ULTA this afternoon I realized I had inadvertently mixed up an exact dupe of China Glaze’s Starboard color!!
Have you ever made a frankenpolish and if so, how did it turn out?
China Glaze Papaya Punch, inside, with flash.
Yay swatch time! This is the China Glaze Papaya Punch outside, no flash.
It’s most definitely true to the color in the bottle, and it was opaque in one coat. This is actually three coats (because I’m anal), and no top coat yet. It’s so shiny all on its own. I know that everyone says OPI is the end all be all, but I swear China Glaze give them a run for their money- at least in my humble opinion.
I think I’ll add the China Glaze Crushed Candy Crackle (say that three times fast!!) later on this week as something new. I bet those two colors will really pop together.
Close ups of Crushed Candy Crackle and the new Papaya Punch from China Glaze. Swatches coming soon.
^__^
Had a sweet coupon from Sally’s to get a free China Glaze nail polish with a minimum purchase of $10, and since I can do that with my eyes closed, here’s my haul! (It’s a mini haul, but a haul nevertheless.)
A much needed cuticle trimmer (I know, I know, you’re not supposed to cut them, but I prefer to), some Healthy Hoof (which I swear by), a new bottle of Thinner, the Crushed Candy Crackle I’ve been after and Papaya Punch from the new China Glaze Island Escape collection.
